What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a system of healing which has been practiced in China and the East for thousands of years.

Acupuncture aims to improve physical, mental and spiritual health by re-establishing the balance of vital energy (chi) in the meridians that run in a network around the body. Acupuncture aims to treat a wide range of illnesses and conditions.

The flow of chi can be affected by such factors as emotional states (stress, grief, anger, sadness and fear) as well as poor nutrition, trauma, the weather, infections and genetic tendencies.

What Is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture works to help maintain your body’s equilibrium. It involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body to regulate the flow of qi, your body’s vital energy. For a number of lifestyle and environmental reasons qi can become disturbed, depleted or blocked which can result in some symptoms of pain and illness.

What is Acupuncture?

In certain instances, traditional acupuncture can be an effective therapy to help restore balance and promote physical and emotional harmony. Treatment is aimed at the root cause of your condition as well as your main symptoms, this approach helps with resolving your problem and enhancing your feeling of wellbeing.

Treatments are individual and often include advice on diet and lifestyle. Depending on the condition, your initial visit can last up to an hour and a half. This consultation consists of taking a case history, which includes questions about your medical history, digestion, sleep patterns and energy so an entire picture of you may be established. Subsequent sessions will usually last forty-five minutes. Initially you will need treatment on a weekly basis and then less frequently as things improve. Acupuncture goes very well with Naturopathy.
